Philosophy

Conventional clothes marketing seems to be leading children away from ‘childhood’ and into a fashion- conscious world not consistent with the needs of active little bodies. At indigo goose we seek to provide beautiful, practical clothing that works with the environment, and is colourful and fun-filled like childhood itself.

Our clothing is made from ecological and fair trade fabrics. All aspects of our company from farming to processing to manufacturing through to packaging are carefully researched. We will constantly strive to reduce our footprint on the earth by using materials and processes that are environmentally friendly.

We offer long-lasting and timeless clothing that support reducing consumption. Our clothes are made to withstand the rigours of childhood and we would like nothing more than to see them handed on to family and friends.

Fair Trade

fairtrade.jpg The ‘Fair Trade’ concept was developed to counteract the effects of free world trade such as unsustainable prices being paid for goods and services.  Through ‘Fair Trade’ workers receive fair pay and fair working conditions.  There must be regular work and child labour is prohibited.

Dyes
dyes.jpg Colour colour colour!  We love colour and believe children should be able to wear clothes that are vibrant and full of life (just like them!) Unfortunately colouring clothes impacts the environment. Many dying practices are wasteful of water and use chemicals which are harmful to both the wearer and the environment.

Footprint

footprints.jpg It would be great if we could produce these gorgeous clothes without affecting the environment, but of course we can’t.  The next best thing is for us to identify the impact we are making so we can find ways to reduce it.  We have therefore given a footprint rating to each of our garments (affectionately known to us as the ‘goose print’).
